How Particulate Scrubbers Work
Widely used in industrial air pollution control, this technology captures particulates and gases simultaneously using liquid, typically water, to dissolve or absorb pollutants. It involves two key steps: trapping particles in water droplets and then separating these droplets from the exhaust stream.
Heumann Environmental uses a true venturi-style wet scrubber design to maximize particulate capture. In a venturi scrubber, the gas stream accelerates through a contracting duct section where water is introduced. This acceleration causes dust particles to collide and attach to the water droplets.
As this new water and gas mixture enters the diverging section of the Venturi, the gas and droplets begin to slow down before entering a cyclonic separator. This design prevents high-speed entry into the separator, ensuring effective separation of the water droplets from the gas stream. The slurry exits through the bottom for treatment or discharge, while the filtered gas stream exits through the outlet pipe.
